This page is an introduction to the wide variety of "competitive dog sports" that you can participate in with your weimaraner.  A weimaraner needs a lot of exercise or they can get very destructive.

Agility

Agility began around thirty years ago and is currently one of the largest and fastest growing dog sports in the world.  In agility the dog is navigating an obstacle course which includes jumping over barriers, running through tunnels, slaloming through weave poles, traversing catwalks, scaling an A-frame and tipping a seesaw.  The dog runs the course off-lead and usually without a collar. The handler's job is to help the dog perform all of the obstacles that have been prescribed by the judge safely and in the correct sequence.  Each agility course has a pre-determined time in which all of the obstacles must be performed.  The winner is the fastest dog who completes the course with the least number of  points deducted for running the obstacles out of sequence or incorrectly performing an obstacle.  Agility is a great confidence building dog sport for shy or insecure dogs.
Flyball

Unlike agility where the dog and handler must stay in sync, flyball dogs are independent of their handler, so sometimes the flyball competition is difficult for agility dogs.
